This blueberry pie smoothie is one of my most favorite smoothie ever. This recipe is dairy free, naturally sweetened and can be make gluten free too. This smoothie is very fulfilling. It can be a great breakfast on run or can be a good energy boosting post workout drink too.
This Blueberry pie smoothie has oats which is a slow released carbohydrate and Apple has a lot of fiber. Slow released carb and fiber helps to keep hunger under control for a longer period of time. I also use almond butter which is a source of good fat and have a lot of fiber too. My blueberries were very sweet but still I used 2 dates to make it sweeter.
I use here regular quick oats. If you prefer you can choose gluten free oats. Sometimes I also make this smoothie without apple and it still taste delicious just little lighter. My almond butter looks pretty dark on this picture because I roasted them little longer. And yes you can make your almond butter at home too with out any special tool. Why this Blueberry pie smoothie is not so blue/purple ! Because these blueberries were greenish white inside. So if you want to make a pretty colored smoothie (;)) make sure your blueberries are deep purple inside.
